Regina Rifles chevron?

Hi guys,
Is this chevron the type worn by the Regina Rifles during WWII? As you can see, the stripes are dark green rather than red. I've had it longer than I can remember, but have never been able to pin down an ID. Used to think it was British Marines. Just recently I saw a photo of a Regina Rifles battle dress with chevrons that seemed to be the same... |
Its the standard colours of Rifle Regiments with Black uniforms and red facings, such as KRRC and many other Territorial Battalions.
The chevrons are faded black not green. regards |
Thanks, Simon! I had ruled out the British rifle regiments due to color, but now that you say so, I can see it. Is this a Second World War chevron?
|
No way of telling, it could be more recent than that or older.

Thanks again, Simon! Great information.

There was no authorization for the Regina Rifles to wear coloured chevrons before the Second World War. The practice of wearing these on battle dress started near the end of the Second WW and continued into the 50's and 60's.
|
Thanks, Bill. Are these chevrons consistent with the type worn at the end of the war? If so, I might display them with other Regina Rifles insignia I have.
|
Hard to say. They could be from any time from the end of the war until unification.
|
Thanks again, Bill.
