Hi All
I just found this at a market. It is definitely an high quality item and weighs a lot, must be over a kilo. The maker is National Industries of 'The Mall Lahore'! Is this something that would have been used by the RN or possibly only Merchant Navy? Dated 1943.
I'd appreciate if anybody has any further info.
Thanks, cheers,
Alex

Believe this instrument is known as a Rolling Rule and used by most Naval Forces. Quite valuable I believe having just checked a few on the Web.

This rolling rule is supplied to Naval personnel Worldwide and is made from brass and stainless steel. Every rule is tested to roll true to within 1mm over 2 metres.

All the best, Simon.

Hi Simon
Thanks for the info. I have seen modern plastic examples of these but this one is superb quality.
Cheers,
Alex
