Explosive Ordnance Disposal Insignia

Hi all from Canada! I'm hoping a Australian collector can post an image of the insignia worn over time of the Explosive Ordnance and disposal troops. I have a odd EOD patch in my "Spare Stuff" album that I'm trying to nail down.

Cheers,

Greg

hi greg
best bet would be to post a pic of the item in question.
what period? official or unofficial? several questions needed to pin it down without a pic

With no desire to nit-pick EOD stands for Esplosive Ordnance Disposal - surely?

Hi all, yes Eddie, EOD is Explosive Ordnance and Disposal. Attached is the mystery insignia I have. Cheers,

It's not an Australian patch.

This is in the style of the R.A.F. EOD patch but who is PARA trained. It could be one of the many patches being produced in Afganistan for unoffical wear in theatre??

Wasn't it decided last time that it was a fantasy fashion item?

Hi Tom and all. Feedback from a EOD forum is that this is probably a unofficial EOD patch. The central design is similar to some Aussie EOD vanity (unofficial) patches handed to foreign visiting EOD techs. I was curious as to what the Australian techs wear and if a specialist in Australian insignia knew more than I did.

Thanks again.

As far as I know, the Aussie EOD blokes wear the standard EOD qualification patch.

hi greg
im sure i have seen it before. i also would say it is unofficial and is simmilar to some of the unofficial raact patches.
it probably dates from the 70s onwards and may even be from the UN cambodia deployment.
i will continue to search for the pic ive seen of it or simmilar

I go with the view this is a fantasy/fashion item.

In the British service Bomb Disposal and Explosive Ordnance Disposal are two different beasts. The first is an RE function the second RAOC/RLC function.

The bomb patch Mick shows is the RE BD one - should be nose down I think?

The one I posted is the current issue one worn by Australians on service dress and polyester uniform.
