Tank Corps, gold metal?

I've been weeding through my collection, when I came across this, it's made from an odd gold metal, and has been made into a broach, it's fairly heavy.
I got it when I bought a TC and RTC cloth shoulder title on eBay many years ago, it was in the bag with the titles, I contacted the seller who didn't get back to me, so I kept it.
I've always put it as a fake, but with the amount of unusual badges coming up these days, I thought I'd put it out there for opinions

It's jewellers conversion that has had the slider removed and the pin added and then the whole thing gilded,

Looks good to me. Has the zimmermit :D on the turret face.
