hi all
it has been suggested this BD badge could be Bedford District mounted troops slouch hat badge.
any thoughts?
also, could the WND, LDC & LRC badge be south African?
thanks in advance

Hi BC
If that was a District Mounted Troop badge, I would have expected it to be cut-out sheet brass, not a properly made badge. I don't think it is that.
The sheet brass badges may be SA but no idea what they could be.
Cheers,
Alex

No it is not, their badges were all made in South Africa, the exception being the generic DMT, which was made here, in Great Britain.
Your badge appears to be made here too, can you show the reverse?

Looking at it's reverse, I would have to say it was not made in South Africa.

They were normally made in white metal, by the Cape silversmiths.

Bedford District mounted troops

Never heard of Bedford District mounted troops- not in the UK anyway.
I thought they mostly wore 'IY' as a headdress badge.

Stephen.

Not surprised, given that were raised in the Eastern Cape!

It looks as though the WND badge has a pattern tag attached by green flat tape, this was used by the British to indicate a badge produced and sealed in England for a Commonwealth Country.

Thank guys
Thanks Marc, I was thinking the ND might be "native division" therefore maybe something from the African continent, or is it "naval division"?.
The mystery continues
