BPS and BPD Buttons. Burma Police Department??

I was going to stick these in the database. I was certain the MHS bulletins would identify them. Not the case so far. I was expecting 'Burma Police Service' and then 'Burma Police Department'. But that was just a calculated guess.

Anyone have a positive id? BPS in white-metal, no maker. BPD in nickel plate with a Gaunt & Son Ltd mark.

Hi Mike,

I believe the "BDP" button is for "Bangalore District Police".

See here :

Sorry - haven't been able to find anything on the "BSP"/"BPS" button so far.

Hopefully one of the experts will be along shortly. . . .

BSP - Not sure..Baroda State Police?

I have a post Independence button to Bombay State Police, but this cannot be it as this has a Kings crown.

Your probably correct, though there is a slim chance it was produced in the period 1947-1950, when crowns were still in use.

I assume 'Birmingham Police...' has been rules out?

I read them as PBS and PBD.
