Loyal North Lancashire uniform items.

Picked these items up this morning, jacket has Loyal North Lancashire buttons, in the pocket was the brooched Loyal Regiment OSD cap badge, also the empty wallet with the owners name, matching the label on the trousers.
The Collar badges and rank insignia are missing.
Was interested to note the size of the jacket pockets very large!
Is it possible to date this item?
Think the trousers are dated 194#? but not sure.
Can anyone post examples of rank and collar insignia I would require to complete the jacket.
Thanks Tony.

A 218966 Lt Harold Kenneth Clapperton of Bolton, aged 23, served in the regiment during WWII, killed in North Africa in 1943 whilst with the 1st Bn.
Wounded on 5th April 1943, he died on the 13th (I think).

Hello,

Harold Kenneth CLAPPERTON was commissioned as 2nd Lt. in the Loyals in December 1941.

From the holes on the collar he was promoted to Lt.

So you require 2 gilt and enamel pips on each shoulder strap, standard type and size.

Just as a matter of interest in line with the post. My uncle died on 23rd April 1943 with the 1st Bn the Loyal regiment in Tunisia. They might have known each other

The OSD collar badges were the shield with cross and fleur de lis surmounted and the regimental title scroll beneath. They are pretty common and should not be difficult at all to acquire.

Hello George, yes an intriguing thought.
I would guess they would have known each other if only by sight.

Arrived today a pair of Collar badges now fitted, not a matching pair but nevermind.
Tony.

It looks pretty good now. In service, non matching collar badges were likely fairly common due to loss or damage etc., so not really a big deal anyway.
