Is it a mess dress button and what regiment
 

Hey :)

Has anybody any idea if this is a mess dress button :/

It says PCR and all I can think is is it princess charlottes regiment? :confused:

It certainly is in the style of a mess dress vest (waistcoat) button. The 88th Connaught Rangers had a very similar vest button with CR in the same letter style. I think that what you have might be a vest button from the pre-1881 49th (Princess Charlotte of Wales’s) Hertfordshire Regiment: https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/49th...giment_of_Foot. However, that is pure speculation on my part.
