Slider crimp

Hello
Just a quick question about the crimp in sliders.
Is it generally regarded in early badges, Edwardian, WW1 that there is a crimp in the top of the slider? I know not all.
If so, when did this practice stop, are there badges made well after this period that too have the crimp mark?
Thank you for your time

Chris

Example..
Is this an older slider, or did they continue making badges after around WW1 with the crimp?
Cheers

I've just gone through my (KLR cap badges) collection and found the following

1896 (regular) Pattern- 5 with crimps, 2 are quite early (ie before 1908)
TF Bns c1908-15 3 crimps
TF Bns c1916-19 (both by Lambourne) 2 crimps

Foreign Service badges 5 with crimps - 3 by Gaunt

1926 Pattern - lots (probably Firmin)
1950 Pattern, just 1 crimp (by S&W)
1939 Pattern Lpl Irish - 2 crimps (Gaunt)

So it looks as though they appeared from early cap badges into the 1950s

(but then, I don't collect anything after that - no crimps on AA or NM anyway !)

Post WW2 Dowler badges are found with crimped sliders.

The all WM KOYLI, Royal Leics beret badge etc. Their style of slider is reminiscent of significantly earlier badges and very pleasing on the eye... for me at least.

Thank you chaps for answering my question,so the crimp is not just on the early badges.
Cheers

Interesting to hear of Dowler crimps (the only Dowler badge I have is the Dowler AA Lpl Irish)
Do you know who made the 'all WM KOYLI, Royal Leics beret badge etc' ??
