Coastguard ?
 

Hi people, all I know about these badges is that they were in one lot that were all described as coast guard. Is there somebody out there who recognises them ?

Never been used by HM Coastguard!

Quite a few old Merchant Navy badges have the 'slanted' stock (top cross bar) , so possibly a group to check.

I believe they may be American. Not sure whether coastguard but probably easy to find via google

I think these are Royal Navy related.
They look like collar badges worn by Senior Admiralty Messengers from around 1956 to around 1978.
Officers of Yard Craft also wore similar collar badges from 1928 to around 1936, and this may be the type used by them also.
Admiralty Messengers wore pressed gilt metal 'anchor' collar badges, rather than bullion, from 1930 to around 1978.

These were worn as collar badges by retired CPOs who were working as instructors at Britannia Royal Naval College Dartmouth. They wore a standard CPO's uniform but with these slanting anchors as collar badges. They were still wearing them when I was there in the late-1970s and I believe they continued to be worn until the early-1980s.

They have been discussed on the forum before - I will endeavour to find the link.

I found the link but it doesn't say anything other than what has been said already.

However, here is an image of Mr. Litton, a former CPO working as a staff instructor at BRNC in 1973. The sloping anchor badge can be clearly seen being worn as his collar badge.
