Whilst I do not know what it is, I have never seen anything like that associated with the Cameronians.

The wreath style is the same of that used by the German navy in WWII, so I wonder if it is perhaps an Imperial German Army badge?

I was going to say that it didn't look British to me, but that leaves Germany and a good few other nations to investigate. :(

...I only say it because it flashed up in my head that they are the 26th Foot (old memory) ... and dont they have oak leaves around the star?

I agree that it does look German though.
