Ontario Mounted Rifles

Mazeas 1920 to 1950 page 140 has a list of what regiments became after the re-organizations of 1936. The list is comprehensive with final outcomes listed. However, whereas most remain as they were or what they became or disbanded or became artillery, the listing for Ontario Mounted Rifles seems a blank. Anyone out there tell me if they remained operational after 1936.

I've moved to Canada and have started collecting Canadian cavalry badges.

Welcome to Canada MorayNovice. You have picked one of the colder snowier winters for your first year here.
Mazeas 20-50 was a catalogue approach with a bit of historical background for the lineages. However in cases it is incomplete or in error. See the Mazeas 1920-1950 Corrections for some of the corrections.
The Ontario Mounted Rifles perpetuated the 4 CMRR of the CEF. However, they were a short lived unit under that name. Originally, pre-1914, they were the 9th Mississauga Horse, and then redesignated the Ontario Mounted Rifles in 1920, and again the designation was changed in 1924 to The Mississauga Horse. The Mississauga Horse were amalgamated with the Governor General's Horse Guards in 1936. A bit confusing, and not well explained in Mazeas.

Thanks for the tips. I was unaware of the Mazeas Corrections. I'll take a look. Already, I'm surprised at the variation in metal colour for Canadian badges. I assume they're okay. I've looked at various websites for confirmation and the forum's Canadian Badge Index is invaluable. Any news on when it might be completed? I assume it's not complete with images for all badges. Personal albums have also been useful.
