M Detachment Shoulder Title on the Antiques Roadshow

Very rare title - M Detachment on this evening's Antiques roadshow, accompanying the recipients MM group for the Greek Islands... The Chap said that not even the museum had one.

Anyone else see it?

Hi Cymro,

there was a thread on this when the programme first aired. Yes it was interesting.

For those who did not see it, it is worth seeing.

The National Army Museum appear to have listed badges, medals, photographs and documents related to SAS/SBS veteran Sergeant Raymond Geary MM.

The antiques Roadshow episode was recorded in July 2019 and as the NAM record shows acquisition dates from December 2019 it would seem likely that the family has donated the collection and more material than was shown on the programme.

Good to see the collection found a good home - we have to hope it remains there intact - permanently, safe and secure.

Alas - the fate of many donated collections.
BUT
Surely better than being split up and loosing context though ... often the fate of groupings etc if an auction house disposes of them, purely interested in raising the most possible cash ... and of course Commission.

M Detachment Shoulder Badge Antiques Roadshow

Hi. I was just doing a search for my father in law, Ray 'Tanky' Geary and came across these posts. I donated all of the three generations of Geary items to the National Army Museum. I thought that it was important that they not be sold off.
