A little bit more info, possibly the same R Addison Smith:
First Name: R, Esq Surname: Addison Smith Nationality: British Information: Commissioner. Nominated by the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief, Scottish Command. Establishments – Education and Training. Queen Victoria School for the Sons of Scottish Sailors and Soldiers. Service: British Army Regiment: Civilian Gallantry Awards: Commander Of The Royal Victorian Order |
Interestingly, a C.L. Addison-Smith (Chilton Lind Addison-Smith?) was a captain in 3rd Seaforth Highlanders in 1901, Lt Col in the 3rd Seaforths Highlanders, date of seniority 13/7/21.
He was later Treasurer, Queen Victoria School for the Sons of Scottish Sailors and Soldiers. Would you like more detail on him? |
Yes - please. Any additional information would be apprecited.
I would expect this badge was purchased by a senior officer from a wealthy family - as this badge would have been expensive in 1916. Thanks for all your help! |
As American, I had to Google what Royal Victorian Order is - says it is for "personal service" to the royal family. Not sure if that is butler or personal staff??
