Simla Rifle Corps - Mystery

1 Attachment(s)
Can anyone tell me anything about this unit ? I don't think its the Simla Volunteer Rifle Corps - the battle honour of Sobraon is confusing as well -Sobraon was an honour for the 1st Sikh War of 1846 , at that time no European Vols are known to have existed in India . Is there a possibility that this could be to one of the disbanded Nusserree Battalions , stationed near Simla? they were Gorkhas alright and stationed near or at Simla ( hence this subsidiary title) and were disbanded circa 1858-59-60! Some of the Nusserree Bns including 2GR carried this honour . Circa 1858 , 2GR was known as Sirmoor Rifle Bn , Goorkha Title came later . Hence a possibility ( needs further research of course) is if whether one of the other Nusserre Bns ever had a subsidiary title called Simla Rifle Corps .

Nice badge! Unlikely but do you think the central part the cross has been fixed onto a wreath belonging to another badge? There are a few fantasy pieces floating around...but your surmise about the Sirmoor could be true, I think.

A badge that had me foxed in Bonhams last sale was the Cawnpore and Oudh Horse as I could find no such unit.
