Hello! I have these badges...Seller told me the Rising Sun is a cap badge...I search in here and some threads told that the Australian forces used the collar badge as a cap badge (in peaked caps, not in slouch hats) but searching for images I found caps with collar badges, and caps with a badge bigger than a collar one (slouch badges I suposse) What was the usual in visor caps...collar or slouch sizes? Thanks!Attachment 261665

By far the most usual and accepted practise was to wear the collar badge on a peaked cap. There are of course many exceptions to the rule as Australian soldiers did not always agree that all rules were necessary or enforceable.
The are pictures of the larger rising suns worn unofficially on the front of a slouch hat, and pictures with an artillery gun badge on the front of a peaked cap instead of on the sleeve. Then there are numerous unofficial badges, especially Light Horse, which were not rising suns. The Dept of Defence had to ban their use in 1916 or 1917.
Some collar size RS badges like the gilt "J & Co"appear to have been made specially for officers.
See scan of an unofficial larger size rising sun, probably worn on the side of a slouch hat. This is believed (but not proved) to be Remount Section.
