Leicestershire Badge?
 

Hi All

Purchased this rather nice Leicestershire badge today, however it has been brooched. I suspect it is Vol 2 K&K 612 however I am not sure as it is very well made, both upper and lower scrolls are "doubled", would this badge been standard or a NCO's possibly officers?

What does "brooching" do to the value of a nice badge such as this? I paid around 6 pounds for it.

I can't say much about intrinsic value. The purist would say it reduces the value.
I have a brooched Cambridgeshire Regiment cap badge. You can see where the slider was ground down. Intrinsically, not worth much. To me, it is one of my treasures. It was given to me by my great grandmother. She was given it by her half brother who served in the Cambridgeshires throughout The Great War, ending as a sergeant with one of a handful of MSMs to his battalion. It was my very first cap badge, and I treasure it.
If a badge is brooched, chances are it had great sentimental value to somebody and is probably genuine. Not even likely to have been restruck from original dies in the 1970s.
I'd keep it.

The broache fitting is certainly "period"..... and the fact its looped puts it in the 1900 Boer War bracket..... could it be a Puggaree badge?
