HELP PLEASE WITH GREEN HOWARDS BADGE

good aft gents,
a green howards badge has just come into my possesion,
the photo in the ad made it look to me like it was a collar badge if an unusual one which i did not have in my collection .
as there was no scale in the photo and the badge was lugged, i was conviced it was a collar badge,
however when it arrived yesterday i was surprised to see it was no way a collar badge or not one of the normal types etc. it is as big again as a normal collar or about the size of a normal capbadge but with lugs.
the badge is made of white metal, and i would say the lugs are slightly longer
than normal.
i have looked on the forum`s archive etc for anything similar and the nearest
item i can find to match it is on deejayuu`s excellent album of north yorkshire
badges and it appears that dave is not sure what his one is ,as his badge has the title "mystery badge suggestions please"
so any help would be greatly appreciated
many thanks andy.

Andy,
not my area but I would say it's a 19 Huss NCO Arm badge, which has been heavily faked!

I think you will find that the year for the 19 H is 1885, and that for the Howards is 1875.

Here's a link to the Green Howards museum cap badge collection

http://www.greenhowards.org.uk/capbadge.php

The closest one I can see is the officers undress cap badge 1889-1902

I hope this is of some help.

Dave.

Green Howards Badge

Hi Andy

Whatever it might be it is certainly not a 19th Hussar Arm Badge.
This is an elephant and, incidentally, is not heavily reproduced.

Best wishes

Green Howards Pouch (?) Badge

Hi Andy again

Looking through my Green Howards collection I discovered I have one similar. I have put it up with a collar badge to show how large it is. On reflection I have always believed this to be a Pouch badge worn, possibly, by the Band.

Best wishes

Gordon
