Desert Camouflage Pegasus

Do Pegasus formation signs come in desert camouflage?

Depends what era you’re talking?

Under Army 2020 changes the Pegasus is being worn again in the universal MTP which would be worn in the desert by 16 Air Assault

Only as a private purchase item, I believe.

Thank you gentlemen. Are they easily obtained?

Is this what you mean? Badge on the left?

I don’t know if the type has an official name but we call it ‘subdue’ Pegasus, we wear this along with subdue wings and a blacked out para cap badge when out in the field or on deployment.

Forester93:

I know subdued exists, I was wondering about the desert camouflage variations you see floating around the market?

Here are 2 versions.

Desert Rat:

Hay, no in present day no Paratroopers or any attachments in 16 Air Assault wear the mtp styled one, just the subdue. The only two variants are as you know are the maroon and subdue one. I just come back from a desert and we’ve currently got half the battalion out in the Middle East and no one has that style patch.

Hope that helps.

There is a rumour (and truth be told I don’t believe it) that our DZ flashes, or at least 2 Paras, will be changing to something that is more camouflaged than a bright blue patch but this is just rumour.

Forester93 - cannot the wearing or not wearing Formation and/or DZ flashes be as simple as removing or changing the MTP patch panels on shirts/jackets? as they were designed to do!

Royal 04-01-20 11:59 AM

No, because the para smocks and barrack shirts don't have blanking plates :D

Mike_2817 04-01-20 12:05 PM

:D Well in that case get the tailor to Velcro back the patches making them removable.

I just love British Army uniformity!!

Mike_2817 + Royal:

That’s pretty much what happens, we get our clothing tailored to include a velcro back + a pocket on the sleeves for a tournique, we don’t tend to wear a Para Smock in the field unless we jump in, some blokes do and taylor to there needs. It’s down to preference, I prefer the regular smock because I’ve taken my front pockets off so it’s comfier with my body armour.

Thank you Forester93.

Gents, whilst we are discussing the 'Peggy ' and related topics can anyone identify the attached please?

Is the white 'patch' something related to P Coy?

The black badge is about 2" square and velcro backed.

Thanks chaps

I don’t know about the black patch however it looks interesting, if you find out I’d love to know.

You’re probably right about the white patch being P-Company related, everyone is numbered so the P-Company staff assess the recruits (of whom they’ve not met before) as basically a number. The recruits display there numbers on white patches.

The white patch you have shown is small and I’ve never seen it like that however they are done by the Para training team so some vary slightly. Attached is an example.
