Gold Anodised Aluminium SWB

Anyone have any theories on this Gold Staybright (A/A) South Wales Borderers badge? Same size as a standard cap badge but with unusual lug fittings!
My thoughts are a belt or pouch fitting? Andy |
Andy can't help, looks from the photos as though the lugs are an integeral part of the badge i.e folded in the pressing process????
Is that so or do I need new specs? Cheers Tony. |
I remember seeing something like this in the Brecon's local badge shop run by Bernie when I was serving there. Is it a museum badge?
Gaz |
Gaz,
Bernie Duffield, God rest him! The early source of the best part of my collection! I doubt if it is a Museum item, they are quite "Tacky" and nowhere near as well made. I still think it's a pouch fitting of sorts? Andy |
The only lugs that i can think of that bear any similarity to those are the ones that you find on the Highland Bde bonnet badge.
As to the purpose of the badge,i dont have a clue. I recall Peter Taylor mentions an all gold SWB badge in his book.I took this to mean that it was a manufacturing error of the normal cap badge. |
An old thread but the fixing are those of a badge produced for the initial trial of a/a badges along with the RAOC badge.

Interesting, thanks button.
