That would be because they are members of 200 Field Regiment RA.

The ORBAT was:
1st Jewish Bn, Palestine Regt
2nd Jewish Bn, Palestine Regt
3rd Jewish Bn, Palestine Regt
200 Field Regiment RA – 604 (Palestinian) Bty commanded by Edmund de Rothschild, remainder British
643 (Palestinian) Field Coy RE
Brigade Sigs Sqn RSigs - British
178 (Palestinian) Supply Coy RASC
Ordnance Field Park and Workshop RAOC
140 Field Ambulance RAMC – British possibly some Palestinian members

Am I to understand that the J B G were not formed untill 1945? Secondly, would the badges shown just be representative of what units various Jewish people served in? DJ.

Sadly that stamp - which we've discussed on here before - is a red herring which does collectors of Jewish WW2 material a huge diservice.

The JBG was formed in 1943 and served in North Africa (briefly) and in Italy. The stamp commemorates the end of the war in Europe.

The stamp, and its surrounding badges, was compiled with the aid of an Israeli collector who made a number of serious errors - since admitted. You will see that he included the infamous Trinidad and Tobago Police badge that so many dealers hawk as a JBG badge. (third row left) However the real clue that this is less than accurate is the 17/21 Motto which is shown (top row one from the right) which is described as "The Commando Unit".

The JBG Orbat shown in my last post is correct. There were also a number of other Palestinian units including ATS, RE, RPC, RMP etc. Their soldiers were enlisted in Palestine and all had numbers with a PAL or rarely an ME prefix. According to enthusiasts in Israel they all served in the JBG. They didn't.

Other Jews served in other non-Palestinian units but are not identifiable as such. If you have a copy of this stamp please give it to a stamp collector - it is not a useful source of badge collecting information.

Thanks Eddie, A well constructed answer to my two questions, along with some interesting extra information. Some members here may recollect that as well as British Commonwealth Artillery hat badges, buttons, collar badges, Div.signs etc., I also collect any postage stamp that depicts a field gun or canon, Arty hat badges, Artillery projectiles or uniforms etc. Also paper money and coins showing same. Yes, I'm a real ARTYNUT! Best regards, David J.
