Interesting picture of a ww1 flyer wearing a maternity tunic with sergeants propellar and stripes but his cap has what appears to be the bronzed PO cap badge used by the RND. He has no RFC shoulder title so is he RNAS?

Bit of a conundrum this one. He is wearing uniform and ranking of the RFC, but what appears to be a RNAS cap.

Could the combination of insignias indicate circa the 1918 amalgamation of RNAS with RFC to form RAF?

Also, that cap badge was a CPO cap badge, not PO, so that adds another mystery!

Very common practice in the RNAS for mechanics to wear the bronze RND cap badge, particularly in France, if the cap actually belongs to the wearer, it might suggest RAF post April 1918 mix, but, what is it that makes him a flyer?

Interesting RNAS uniform

This man appears to be wearing the 1914 Pattern Other Ranks 'Maternity' Jacket. This was standard wear for other ranks serving in the Royal Flying Corps throughout the war.

It'll be interesting to see how much the winning bid will be for this, it's an interesting oddity.
