4/7th Royal Dragoon Guards titles - help please
 

Hi,
4/7th Royal Dragoon was granted "Royal" in 1936 but I find no evidence that "4/7RDG" brass titles were worn during WW2.
Have you ever encountered the smallest title ?

I have a pair of these, worn by Officers on shirts in short sleeve order, I was told that by an ex4th/7th Officer.
Hope this helps, are yours spike and clutch fitting?

Thanks for your input, my smallest title have lugs, no spike and clutch.

Small titles were worn by officers during my time in the regiment 1982-1985 on shirts and Regimental coloured Jumpers certainly,

Thanks Stephen for this piece of information. from what I see "4/7RDG" titles were only worn post war. During and before WW2 I think that "4/7DG" titles were worn.

I thought I'd mention this here. Discussed previously ,an example of the arm badge in anodised with a Dowler slider fitted for sale on Deadspartan. A rare badge.

I have found this image in the Regimental History November Dated 1944 it appears to show shoulder titles being worn on the Battle Dress as I would have expected hope this is helpful.

Thank you very much for this very interesting picture. Officers seem to have collar badges on berets ? Unfortunately, we can not see if the shoulder title is "4/7DG" or 4/7RDG"

The regiment was re designated 4th/7th Royal Rangoon Guards in 1936 there is no way that they would not be wearing the prestigious title of Royal immediately it was bestowed.
It was and is a wealthy regiment and new insignia would have been provided from the off so to speak

But even if the 4/7th Dragoon Guards was granted "Royal" in 1936, the slip on shoulder title introduced from 1939/1940 still does not contain the "R" for Royal. You can simply read "4/7DG".

do you have an image of Slide on title i would like to see one and obviously would like one to add to my collection , the officer I have indicated is clearly wearing a Brass title in the 1944 image sadly it is not possible to read.

when I get chance to re visit the museum I will ask the curator sadly may be some time

Hi Stephen, sorry I haven’t got the «4/7DG» slip on shoulder title, but one is shown in the excellent books "Badges on battle dress" by Jon Mills.
