Paston Cadets North Walsham - Then and now

2 Attachment(s)
Led by the drums and bugles, the Paston Cadet force marches through the streets of North Walsham during the 1920s............
And the same spot, nearly 100 years later, photo taken today.

The pub visible behind the Cadets was called the Bull Inn, demolished in more recent times to expand the road. Only part of it remains today - the white walled building to the left - just visible in the Cadet photo. I believe the Cadets are wearing the Norfolk Regiment cap badge, but I note the bass drum bears the school emblem, which was used as their own cap badge at a later(?) date. I also have to smile that the chap thumping out the beat on the bass drum is out of step with the rest of the column.......

The school magazine records that the school cadet corps adopted the school badge and buttons in 1931 following on from the 1930 instruction to cease wearing regular regtl insignia when funding to the ACF was removed.

I have been unable to find a date for the CCF's adoption of the RANGLIAN badge so if anyone knows then I would be grateful to know.
