Help with this Cadet group?

My great uncle was part of the 11th AGA in Fremantle in 1915 and 1916 and had been in the Fremantle Boy's Grammar School Cadets in 1909.

This photo is of a Cadet? group sometime in between, I think. Can anyone please identify it for me? I see the number 87 on the slouch hats.

Many thanks.

These boys are 87th Battalion, Senior Cadets, so 1912 onwards. The 87th Battalion was recruited from Scotch College, Claremont, Cottesloe, Perth Modern School, Subiaco, and Leederville.

The Fremantle Boy's School formed A and part B Companies of No 2 Cadet Battalion, Western Australia, from 1906. They became part of the 86th Battalion, Senior Cadets, in 1912.

Harking back to your previous posts, 11 AGA would have worn exactly the same uniform with 11 above the hat band.

Thank you for these great details.

And it makes sense. Alf's family had moved from Fremantle to Leederville in 1915.

Cheers
