It’s genuine. Been converted into a sweetheart brooch.

Hi

If you do get it, It's highly likely that those fittings are only soft-soldered in place so they can easily be removed and some nice old lugs added.

OK, you will lose the nice gilded finish but you can't have everything...

At least you have a good 'un by all accounts!

Thread titles

Sorry for bringing this up on this thread, it could be said about so many threads posted on here. If there is no description of what is being discussed in the thread it is useless for future searches for information. Yes a tidbit of info for the few that see it at the time but lost for any future collectors.

I collect Canadian badges, I read almost all new threads as I like to learn about insignia from other countries.

So what am I looking at?

Personally I'd leave the badge as it is, it's a part of it's history and looks nice and not tatty like some that have seen better days.

Personally i would like to see this badge in my hand. The scan is not particularly good as its slightly out of focus to the edges but from what i can see, i don`t think the quality is quite there for a genuine badge. The scroll to the bottom has a number of small imperfections & the tail of the budgie on the right has a snot on it.

The badge below i know to be genuine, the scanned image does not do it justice as the detailing is very fine and accurate.

Kind regards Dave

There’s a bit of burr to the bottom scroll of this one https://www.worthpoint.com/worthoped...-cap-287937014

The badge matches genuine examples exactly so the only possible type of copy it could be is a lost wax casting made from an original badge. If it is this the dimensions will be slightly different to the original.

I think it actually has quite a good look about it, although, it has been turned into a brooch, I still like it.

Nor me, the lack of crispness in the rear detail and the leaning budgie concern me. I have owned quite a few original examples of this badge over the years and they have all been high quality items with very crisp rear detail.

It’s just a standard fake with the right horn rising above the fleece and the pissed budgie.
