Prototype or Blazer badge

I picked this up, and at the time thought it might be a beret badge. Obviously upon receipt it's way to big for that, being 80 MM x 68 MM. So, I then figured it was a blazer badge....until I was looking through David Parsons' book - "A Collectors Guide to Badges, Emblems and Uniforms of the Royal Air Force and Associated Organizations", page 594 in the section on prototypes. On that page there are several badges, and upper left seems to be like mine?

Worn by bandsmen on the fur cap I believe, although if so I'm surprised it's been attached by being stitched all around.
(Should've said busby and cap badge).

Bandsman at Edinburgh Castle , so probably there for the Military Tattoo.

The busby-style of headdress replaced the peaked caps of the RAF Central Band in 1977 and was discontinued in 2012 .

Terry , knowing your interest in women in the services , the photo Leigh posted is a "first" :
