RWF cloth ST, ww2?

All,
Is this title ww2 or post? It seems the same as the usual paste backs, but with this gauze backing.
Thanks,
CB

Anyone care to venture a guess?
Thanks.

Thanks, I had suspected this type of backing to be post war, but some dealers state ww2 for them. I also suspect they are probably not long after the war if so.
These and some other types of backings are the most frustrating things to date as there are varying opinions, and I can find no solid information on them.
The standard opinion seems to be that only printed and paste backs are of ww2 vintage, but I find that hard to accept without proof.

it is a difficult subject to get 100% certainty on some of the variations. I agree that the title is probably early post war but then again titles go out of use in the mid 60's anyway.

This is a complicated question that seems to crop up regularly.

Red and white titles were not officially issued until 1943 and those that were were printed. Quite a few regiments did not like the printed type and bought embroidered versions from unknown sources although the majority of these were pasteback.

Embroidered versions did not become official issue until 1947 and most nicely-made titles like the one shown date from after that. The titles were made by various manufacturers which explains the differing backings. The red and white titles were worn until the early 1960s when battle dress became obsolete so apart from saying they are postwar they are almost impossible to date more accurately.
