CFPU. Canadian Film and Photo Unit patch

I’m new to these particular patches and who would have guessed I would have seen 2 in the last few months? Two collector colleagues have these in their collections and while I have been watching a listing on eBay this week, I started to look into the history a bit. Having now just read past Forum posts which mention this patch, it becomes clear is rare, highly collectable, extensively reproduced and was originally made in two quality levels.

At our monthly MCCoC Meeting yesterday, Ian Edwards brought in an example in the printed format. I gather the originals were either printed or stitched/woven. Bonus that Ian obtained this directly from Chuck Ross back in the early 70’s. Again, by coincidence, I had been reading about Chuck just yesterday morning at this link:

I’m posting this just as an FYI to Forum members. Maybe it will illicit some new discussion.

Some original examples.

Is there any truth to the rumor that the reproductions have "&" instead of "and" where "film and photo" are.

Here is a bad repro for reference.

There are many many reproductions out there. I would go the other way around. As Ron has posted, the authentic titles read "and" in an even font in an upwards slant. Anything else is garbage.

There are a few different repros out there. Both printed and embroidered. Most are of not good quality, some are tricky.
