Glider Battle Honour Badges

1 Attachment(s)
I am preparing an article for The Formation Sign Journal of The Military Heraldry Society on the glider battle honour badge worn by the Border and South Staffordshire Regiments and their successors.

I am looking for illustrations of as many examples as I can find including those illustrated in Colonel Robin Hodges book shown here for the Staffordshire Regiment. Scans of 300 dpi or more would be preferred.

All contributions will be acknowledged in the article and contributors will be sent a copy of the issue in which it appears.

All help appreciated. PM me if you can help or post badges here.

I can provide "10" and "12", obtained from 1 Staffs in 'Derry in 1979.

The anodised metal version was worn by the Staffordshire Regimental Police on the RP brazzard. There is an image in the Regiment magazine.

Is the one in the illustration anodised?
I thought it was "brass", as were the ones I saw 1 Staffs RPs wearing in '79, I think they were black brassard's with brass "RP" letters and the glider.
No doubt the brassware was kept shiney by nick-wallahs in the Guard Room.

My thanks to all who have answered my request.

I will get round to replying to all of you individually in the next week.

A good example of the power of the Forum.

When I visited them at Ebrington Barracks in Londonderry in 1980, the RPs wore black brassards with large RP and the glider. Both were highly polished (and possibly lacquered, I didn't get THAT close) brass.

Ebrington Bks was where I obtained my 1 Staffs glider badges in 1979 and saw the yellow metal gliders and letters on the RP brassard's.
I was prepared to pester the QM's Stores for insignia but like you preferred to avoid the RPs and their Guard Room hospitality.
