On the left sleeve? Chevrons indicating length of service and vertical strip indicating wounded.

Yes right on the left so not O/S stripes but years in the army??

Yes, one chevron for a certain period of service, (a year or two) which I can't remember and which varied over time.
Somebody will be able to say.

...here are the A.I.F. Orders, from early 1917, regarding the wearing and qualification required for the stripes being shown in the photograph...in the British Army, QR stipulated two years' service for each good conduct stripe - but that also depended upon which period is being referred to...(8{

From the photo the large inverted chevrons are Good Conduct stripes, just above a vertical metal Wound Stripe.

Smaller inverted chevrons on the right arm are Service stripes

I am just doing the rounds from some relatives Service Records.
