I find it hard to believe that anyone, even on a training base, would actually advertise they were in the OSS. Maybe it stands for Orderly Staff Sergeant.

Wouldn’t that dismiss other Insignia worn by them such as the Spearhead?

.....really blimy what people do to get a discount !!! Regarding the brassatd mate , the OSS were more blase, hence patches directly attributed , distinguishing badges including OSS service bar....it's possible though it may not be related to that group, but then it's worth checking out and researching ....hopeblifes treating you better than me at the mo lol

It has a very British look about it, it couldn't be 'SSO' ? The Indian Army had Special Service Officers. And in my album I have an Indian Army armband for Recruiting Officer which is black letters on Green.

Sean

Thanks Sean,
I’ve been through a few acronyms with no positive result on ID.
