This is an ordinary Melbourne High School students
Badge.....Not a Cadet Badge
The MHS Cadet badge is made of Bronze and has NO wreath

Collars can also be found
Usually backed by Triangular Shaped Maroon patches

When I was at MHS in the 1950's, that badge was worn by school prefects. (orrible nerds!)

That Melbourne HS badge was originally the Prefects badge but later was used as the Cadet CUO’s hat badge
