Hi Ron
Very nice indeed ! But I always thought these die-struck versions were Senior NCOs. Is this not correct ? Regards Jeff

Jeff, for this period 1881-1902. 1st Bn sncos would have 42nd centre, 2nd Bn would either be voided or no scrolls.
Ron.

Yes. That makes sense Ron. I forgot about those details.(stupid boy!) It just goes to show how complex these Black Watch badges can be for the uninitiated ! Regards and thanks. Jeff

An unusual badge, silver plated back star with a white metal oval disc held in place by peening over the edge of the plate. Large size letters on the scrolls, copper overlay with no sign of gilt. The sphinx is silver and not part of the overlay. Oversize silver St. Andrew details rubbed.

Ron you have some stunning badges, thank you for sharing them with us. Didn't you use to have an album with images of drawers full of BW badges?

Rgds, Thomas.

rmarsden 17-03-16 10:29 PM

Thanks for your comments Thomas, I think I posted some pics showing display cases some years ago.
Ron.

Those images were mouthwatering to start with but your individual images with descriptions here surpass them in every way.

Rgds, Thomas.
