Its a standard Royal Air Force sword belt buckle, as worn on the full dress from 1921 to 1939. I think the RCAF also wore the same buckle with their full dress. It was worn after the war with service dress to 1953 (as full dress was not reintroduced). It should be in gilt, which seems to have been polished off on your example.

It was also worn on a black leather belt by certain musicians.
