1916 Brass Economy East Lancs Regt
2 Attachment(s)
Gents, bootsale find this morning on a punt of £8 - what I believe is the all brass economy East Lancs cap badge. I'm encouraged by the general patina an crimp mark, but would appreciate comments from those with more knowlege of WW1 badges.
Thanks in advance chaps . . . Bess |
As per Simon’s comments in the other thread I’m far from convinced that it is a 1916 all GM issue.
Note the rose is a different tone to even the darker bits on the remainder of the badge. I can also see what appears to be the edge of the overlay of the rose from the reverse and possibly the outer edge of a large braze hole. My thoughts are it’s a very dirty, but genuine, BM badge and still worth the £8 paid. |
I thought I was going mad, cant find my post anywhere on the Forum, but obviously you saw it Luke.
Wheres the other thread gone and why two identical threads. regards |
There were only 7,000 made.........

Luke, yes I see what youre saying - this is why I posted the badge for comments.
I think you're right - on closer inspection it may just be a regular badge with a particular patina that appears brass. Still happy with it for £8 as you rightly say. A nice honest example. Thanks chaps Bess |
