Every picture tells a story as they say and it's nice to see this one proving that not all cloth 'Rifles' titles were in the usual black or red lettering. No KRR units were based in Blyth, so think he's probably just a local lad having his photo taken.

I would say 1915, as he still has the stiffened early version of the SD cap. Cloth shoulder titles were issued as early as that to meet the surge in demand that initially could not be met by the manufacturers of brass S/Ts.
