King’s Liverpool & Sherwood Foresters (QVC Derbyshire scroll)

Comments on these two please. I am suspicious of the King’s badge because of the mint appearance of the slider although it looks similar to an example in a member’s regimental album.

The Sherwood Foresters with ‘Derbyshire’ scroll, QVC and two lugs looks OK to me and is also similar to an example in a member’s regimental album.

I don't shout COPY very much but in this case - I will !
This is a common fake - as in a modern construction.
It purports to be Pattern 4362A/1896 - authorised on 7th December 1896 an was made obsolete on 21st December 1926.

The horse has "hairy" flanks - clearly rubbish. The ground / grass is usually defined the 21 (so far) dies - the way the grass "grows" not as a mish mash as here. The last detail is the bowed backwards hind legs. NO die has ever had this feature! Yes, the slider looks too shiny.

So, for the KLR, I apologise that I have no knowledge of the Sherwood Forester badge.

Coincidentally, I've just spotted a "brass economy" on an auction Code 20903.
Firstly there were no "all GM" (to give them their WO name) badges for the King's Liverpool. Just a snip at £120

In any case it is a copy - as above.
These have been made in WM, GM, bronze, and BM

And blackened brass and in reversed metals purporting to be a militia item.

I'd forgotten those ones ..... no end to these dastardly copiers...

King’s Liverpool

Fortunately, we have two very knowledgeable collectors of King’s Liverpool Regt badges, if you have specialist knowledge of any form of badge collecting please comment.

Thanks Peter and Julian
