Victorian Black Watch
Officers glengarry and white helmet KK256.
Unmarked silver open backed star with the addition of a white metal oval positioned behind the gilt overlay to give a more 3D effect. http://i408.photobucket.com/albums/p...psuknzwo7c.jpg http://i408.photobucket.com/albums/p...pstkwggdob.jpg |
Another absolutely stunning badge Ron and I'm not in the least bit envious ..:D:D:D
Lovely to see, keep up the good work. Cheers, Roy. |
Unmarked silver badge similar to previous one, solid back star scrolls attached by hollow rivets, lugs are silver. Gilt is sun bleached and polish wear to St. Andrew.

Hi Ron
Very nice indeed ! But I always thought these die-struck versions were Senior NCOs. Is this not correct ? Regards Jeff |

Officers glengarry badge stamped Samuel Brothers outfitters London.
Cast silver plated back star mounted with wide scrolls brazed on. Gilt overlay with small Sphinx, silver St. Andrew. Silver loops to the reverse. Ex Trevor Shaw. http://i408.photobucket.com/albums/p...psl98pcola.jpg http://i408.photobucket.com/albums/p...psnyvmdhhl.jpg |
Very nice indeed Ron,
I haven't seen this maker/retailers mark before. A real beauty and lovely to see. Cheers, Roy. |
Victorian all gilt glengarry style helmet plate with four copper wires to reverse (two missing). Possibly for levee dress foreign service helmet?
Ex Arthur Strutt http://i408.photobucket.com/albums/p...ps6st1udzx.jpg http://i408.photobucket.com/albums/p...psazrczkpa.jpg |
An unusual badge, silver plated back star with a white metal oval disc held in place by peening over the edge of the plate. Large size letters on the scrolls, copper overlay with no sign of gilt. The sphinx is silver and not part of the overlay. Oversize silver St. Andrew details rubbed.

Ron you have some stunning badges, thank you for sharing them with us. Didn't you use to have an album with images of drawers full of BW badges?
Rgds, Thomas. |
Thanks for your comments Thomas, I think I posted some pics showing display cases some years ago.

Those images were mouthwatering to start with but your individual images with descriptions here surpass them in every way.
