All depends on what you’re collecting. If you could define the parameters of your collection themes I’m sure we can help.

I collect cap badges from WW1 and 2 , Glengarry badges , Shako and helmet plates and the odd other badge that was worn etc . I have particular interest in my home county Regt’s from Lincolnshire but collect anything really lol

Have you had a look in the Books section of this website? https://www.britishbadgeforum.com/bo...bliography.htm plenty to look at there for reference. K&K is the standard reference, if you keep your eye on ebay, they do come up at reasonable prices.
Kind regards, Dave

Very broad interests.

I would recommend KK vols 1 & 2 definitely. Jeff McWilliams two books on Glengarry badges.

Gaylor’s book is good as a pocket guide. F. Wilkinson’s first (1969) edition of Badges of the British Army is a good picture reference for many WW1/WW2 bits. Both are relatively inexpensive.

Keep your eye out on eBay and similar for KK, they pop up at good prices every now and then. Personally I’d not pay more than £35 for vol 1 and £25 for vol 2.

Jeff’s book is long out of print and very dear, even finding a copy is challenging.

Good luck.

Don't know how long you have been collecting ,but as you may be aware collecting glengarry badges is a minefield Even after nearly 50 years of collecting still find this area difficult .Luckily all the ones in my collection were vetted by Jeff even obtaining a very scarce one from his personal collection

I’ve found collecting all badges is turning into a minefield, I have no where the knowledge you lads have , I’ve collected since boyhood after my dad gave me his old badge , I just never realised how many re strikes n con artists there is out there . I do enjoy this site tho and picking up on others knowledge has been fascinating
