US Presidential Citation
 

Can anyone tell me if the Citation badge originally worn by the Glosters is still worn by one of the infantry regiments and if so which one?

If not when did it disappear?

I think it disappeared when the 1st Bn RGBW was amalgamated.

Missing from Dress Regulations except for 170 (Imjin) Bty RA.

I was going to say that,the citation went after 1 RGBWLI became a Rifles Btn in 2007. So not worn by the infantry.
But still worn by the Artillery unit that was entitled to wear it.

The Gloster's back badge now worn only on the forage cap (?), the Brandywine flash and the Presidential Citation "swimming pool" gone, what other distinctions faded away with the advent of The Rifles? Are a Minden rose or roses worn?

I cant.find any mention of Minden Roses in the dress guidance Leigh.
The red badge backing went when the Light Division band became the Rifles Band. Worn behind the bugle on the cord boss.
Bugles over the shoulder titles,the LI and RGJ both wore bugles as part of the s/t.
The use of forebearer regts crossbelt plates. The only exemption i know of is the 1st cadet btn KRRC. Officers wear a Rifles uniform but wear the old cadet btn crossbelt.

Thanks Mike. A Wikipedia entry showed Minden Day as being celebrated by the 3rd and 5th Bns of The Rifles but doesn't mention wearing the white rose which was worn by the KOYLI and the Light Infantry.

General M Jackson. He was the man who, when failing to admit that famous Regiments were to be disbanded, waffled - to which he was very prone - about retaining "Golden Threads". What a fairy tale !

The dress guidance mentions golden threads,id have thought silver was more appropriate.

The 2 battalions of LI became the 3rd and the 5th Rifles,so thats why Minden day is celebrated in those 2 battalions.

I note an officer of The Rifles, an Aide de Camp to the Lord Mayor of London was briefly interviewed on TV this morning, he was wearing the Presidential Citation in No.2 Dress.

The Rifles should be wearing the ribbon of the Croix de Guerre (1914-1918) on both upper arms.

You've got me wondering now - I'm fairly certain it was the Citation.
The Aide de Camp is involved with the Cadet forces, would that influence which emblem is worn?

Leigh, if it was Capt Lade,its a.Croix de Guerre ribbon. I paused it at 48:49 . You can clearly see its green and red.

Ah ta, I saw it as the swimming pool, thought it had a border.

You could see he was wearing blackened "ACF". But no "Rifles" title. In one of my previous posts in this thread. The Rifles Officer of the 1st Cadet Btn KRRC wears "ACF" over "Rifles" ,both in black.
