Can someone please post a good Paddington badge? I can't find one either; or at least one that I am sure of.

Here are some of mine. All genuine.

The first three and last badge are the 2-dot variety, badges 4 and 5 are the 3-dot type.

If anyone can help me out with a WM (loops or slider) 2-dot please get in touch. Swaps available.

CB - good question. Sadly no detailed writings on the uniforms and insignia of the Paddington Rifles during their Territorial Force years (1908-12) exists, no doubt due to their evanescent existence. Photographic evidence is rarer still and compounded by their badge being very similar in shape and often confused with the Royal Engineers.

Firstly it’s probably easiest to split the badges into the two types, 2-dot and 3-dot varieties so called due to the number of dots underscoring the TH of 10TH.

The 2-dot badges I’m 100% convinced are exclusively ORs whereas 3-dot was also worn by officers. Similarly I’m equally convinced that voided examples are all officers badges, loop = collar and tangs = cap. E.J. The BB badge was a logical choice as a Rifle unit. This was worn on the green uniform and I’ve also seen a photo of what appears to be the BB badge being worn on service dress at summer camp by the cooks.

The WM badge has been cited as for walking out dress and worn by NCOs.

The GM badge was a quandary but this 1909 wedding photo of Pte. Frank Giblin https://www.greatwarforum.org/topic/...rm-badge-help/ would appear to show him in khaki wearing an unblackened and presumably GM badge.

Keith Hook who collected London badges from 1940s-50s suggested to me that perhaps they also wore a grey uniform akin the 16th (QWR) London. I’ve never seen a reference to this but stranger revelations have happened.

Another to add to the list.

This is the first 3-dot badge I’ve seen in GM. The quality is stunning and my favourite badge of 2021.

I don’t wonder if a solid BB 3-dot exists?
