TIPTAFT AEF RISING SUN
 

Hi from all. Just wanted to run this by you all. I hope a true Tiptaft of the AEF rising sun. Any idea on market value to get one of these.

I sold one of these on ebay last year.

It came in a job lot of badges; in which I had spotted a 83rd Foot pork pie cap number.

It went back down under to an 'Aussie' buyer for a three figure sum. (can't remember how much)

I thought 'Kerching-result';)

there is a recent thread about tiptaft rising suns. they go for over a hundred quid. cant do searches and links too well on the phone. do you have reason to doubt yours simon?

Hi Phil, I don't know mate; starting to doubt everything lately. I picked it up for $127 with a load of AEF buttons. I'm going to sell on the button's when I get them. I've been after one for some time, and spotted this when i was listed by a chap in PA. It has as you can see, Tiptaft on the slider and when I get a better pic up, on the back of the badge.

It will go with the colonial set. I'm trying to get the one badge from each territory etc to represent the Empire. Got a feeling it's going to take some time.

As soon as it come's in I'll take better pics.

me too. im wondering just how many of my badges are gary glitter.

i like my kangaroo badge. 1st armoured battalion canada.. but seen one on ebay recently that could have been mine. makes me suspicious that they were stored in the same drawer.

Personally I think people pay way too much for these tip taft badges!

I don't think they are that rare.

Price is due to a book and a now defunct web site.

You pay for quality and that comes in abundance with a Tiptaft.

Yes l think that your rising sun is a good one, there was another thread on Tiptaft rising suns a while back on which l posted a lengthy reply, have a look and see if you can find it, l think you started that one too.

The Tiptaft rising suns are marked on the slider and also on the back to the left of the slider on the flat bit between the crown and the suns rays.

Also the rays on the sun are not smooth like all the others, they have jagged bits that stick out on the sides of the rays and also in other voided areas.

Hi Phil, yes I hope it is. It will sit just right in the colonial framed set one day. I thought I'd get a Tiptaft as they seem to be seen as the best examples. Once I get it, I'll post a better picture. You can't see it on these shot's but it does have the markings to the rear also.

Image of the rear is not too clear, is the back of the badge also marked Tiptaft? It's usually along the curve of the sun.

Hi Andy, yes it's there. The pic from the listing doesn't transfer well to the forum. Looks like TIPTAFT on the left and B'ham on the right. I know I could have got a lot cheaper one for the frame, but it's nice to know it's a Tiptaft when it's framed. I think that a lot with some of the badges I get, and pay more -what's the point when it's framed, but it's nice to know.
