Hi everyone

It's not often I get a chance to spend time with my collection, but managed to get a few hours over the holiday season ;)

Thought I'd share some of the badges that i have been fortunate to acquire over the past few years.

Hope everyone has a great 2018 and good luck with the collecting this year.

Thanks for showing this superb lot. I have never seen most of them.
I am intrigued to see the two ZAR HPs in photo number 3, in both brass and WM. Can you tell me who wore the different ones?
Thanks

A very fine collection, some of those plates have become very hard to find over recent years.

Tx everyone ... having relocated to the UK from SA a few years ago my passion for collecting SA badges was rekindled. Up to then it had been medals, cadet badges and shoulder titles.

I think it is a link with home :)

Kingsley the two ZAR HPs are not identical although Owens book does list a w/m version of the brass one. I think that w/m HP was an officers, but open to correction. This particular badge I think was the one that Owen illustrated in his book.

I hadn't noticed until yesterday that I had two versions of this plate.

The one on the left is actually a bi-metal plate (picture doesn't do it justice) and the one on the right w/m. I would appreciate it if anyone could shed light (i.e. is this an example of officers and ORs - the bi-metal has makers name Hobson's to reverse.
