Calico Printers Cloth Badge Collections

Having now seen and recorded all three of the Calico collections which surfaced this year I am just finishing a 48-page issue of The Formation Sign Journal of The Military Heraldry Society which will be published in the next two weeks.

This shows all the badges in colour as well as brief details of their production and the background to their adoption. In addition to British Army formation signs and titles, the collections include RAF and Royal Navy Items, Canadian Army signs and titles, armbands, Civil Defence and Home Guard insignia, Free Forces badges and several US Army items. Whilst the majority are from the Second World War there are also items from the post-war British Army of the late 1940s and early 1950s

Given the interest that these badges have generated on the Forum, the Society will be producing extra copies for sale to interested collectors who are not Society members.

Although the cost has not yet been agreed it would help the Society decide how many copies to print if anyone interested in buying a copy would please PM me.

Excellent news Jon, truly looking forward to getting my copy of this. Based on the quality of all previous MHS productions this should be viewed as essential research material for anyone interested in the subject.
