There is no book specifically covering these buttons.

There is one page illustrating 13 examples in Howard Ripley's original book on "Buttons of the British Army 1855-1970" and a series of articles he produced in recent editions of "Button Lines", the Journal of The British Button Society plus a few odd articles over the years in the same journal.

A few more mess waiters' buttons are illustrated in Gwen Squire's book "Buttons: A Guide For Collectors". That's about it!
