I have just received this in the morning post. I think it is a Griffin(?) with a book and CYPRUS under. It is white on blue, approx. 50mm x 55mm.
Can you ID which unit etc this would have come from please? The 1st image is from the listing, the 2nd my image. Jerry. |
Hi Jerry
I’d say it is a winged lion, rather than a griffin which has the body and legs of a lion and the head and wings of an eagle. According to this listing it is an older Cyprus Scouts badge: https://www.ebay.com/itm/SCOUTS-OF-C...-/283428460058 Graham |
Lion of St Marc ?

As Graham has said, believe this to be a Boys Scouts badge for Cyprus.

Thanks for the ID Graham & Sean, I thought maybe Scouts but the seller, who is well known, labelled it as:-
*British Army Cyprus District Cloth Formation Sign Badge* That's why I went for it... Jerry P.S. As I collect to Cyprus and can call it what I want.................Ha Ha |

Found a photo of a Cyprus Sea Scout Uniform from 1957 showing the badge.
