Chindit Formation Sign

I believe this to be a cut down blazer badge rather than a theatre made formation sign. Note the irregular shape of the circle.

They seem to come in so many shapes and sizes don’t they

The quality of this one and the age doesn’t strike me as being a blazer badge though?

The quality of the Chindits O.C.A. badges is very good but machine rather than hand made. The cut edge on the badge being offered for sale appears to be recently cut and has no sign of ever being attached to a uniform.

I believe that certain individuals have realised that the purchase of an old Chindit O.C.A. blazer can be profitable.

The background color appears to be black. Every Chindit piece I have seen was a shade of Blue, so that is a bit odd. Just my 2 cents worth.

Now that’s an interesting point does anyone have a picture of a Chindit OCA badge as I’ve been after one for ages? We could compare it to the auction then too.
I would have thought OCA badges were scarcer than than the formation signs!

When I said Chindit's O.C.A. badge I was referring to the badge worn on the blazer by ex Chindits. I believe that there was also a specific Chindits O.C.A. blazer badge as well.

I have an example of the O.C.A. lapel badge in my collection.

Chindit Badges

You can see that all the worn and removed from uniform formation signs have rough, worn edges. None are neatly cut like the example being offered for sale.

There are also other versions of the blazer badge than those illustrated.

I must admit I haven’t seen any that were sewn on. Most have fixings, hook and eye or poppers so they could be removed when the item was to be washed. Both the badges I have have these fixings.

Irv:)
