RAN Band Badges 1913-28
 

Hello All

After an extremely long sojourn with another collector my Royal Australian Navy Band helmet and cap badges were recently returned to me. They aren't common so I thought I would put a photo on the forum as a reference point for other collectors.

The badges were in use from 1913 to 1928 and were originally designed in 1913 for the band on the newly commissioned Australian flagship, HMAS Australia. The badges feature the "lazy anchor" which was replace in about 1928 by the vertical anchor on most RAN insignia.

The helmet badge measures 75mm x 75mm, the cap badge is 40mm x 40mm, and the collar is 30mm x 22.

There are no makers details. They all have standard lug type fitting.
