Gr8 find ... haven't seen an example of the cap badge before.

It is not documented in any reference book. I only became aware of it through a photograph held at the Castle military museum showing officers of the unit wearing this badge. So when I saw this for sale, I knew what it was.

And now anyone reading this knows what to look out for ....

Thank you Steven. There are likely lots of other units that wore this coat of arms type of badge(not specifically this one). Maybe never be able to ID all of them. Regards Andrew

Thanks Steven, I know someone who collects single BWM issues to these guys, I wonder if he has one of these?

Just updating this thread with picture of three officers out of the group picture of 22 officers showing the cap badge been worn. They are also all wearing shoulder titles but difficult to see the actual letters.

The attached is also a Coat of Arms general service badge worn during the First World War. As has been said, a number of units wore this type badge for a short while. This one has a slider and is Firmin made.
